What is a spirit guide?

A guide is a discarnate soul who can advise us, helping and inspiring us through our physical existence, our journey through life. Guides can help us to uncover the hidden mysteries of life, always bringing love, support and compassion when things in life appear challenging, they also have infinite patience with us.

When you have your very own Spirit Guide portrait drawn, your portrait comes with a personal greeting from your guide. This message could describe which area of your life your spirit guide has come to help you with.

How Paul Came to Draw Spirit Guides

Paul first heard the words "get thee thy pencil" back in 1997 when crude pencil drawings of guides first began coming through. As the link strengthened, he learned that the spirit artist working through him was a seventeenth century Quaker named Thomas Welford. Pretty soon the pictures became more refined and friends and acquaintances were given a portrait gallery of guide drawings!

Several years later, his wife Debra felt inspired to add colour using pastels to add that extra dimension to the portraits and since then they have become a true team effort.

In more recent times due to requests for these guide portraits Paul has decided to offer them on a wider scale and make them available to more people through his website.

I will aim to send your guide portrait within 2 weeks of receiving your order but I cannot guarantee a specific date as I wait for spirit inspiration to produce the drawings and also it depends on work load and commitments.

All artwork is produced in good faith at your request and you are commissioning a piece of artwork from the artists for an agreed fee to cover the cost of time, materials and postage. For this reason refunds cannot be given even if you do not like or recognise your drawing.

Working With Your Portrait

Sitting quietly with your guide drawing may promote feelings of peace and tranquillity and you may feel a strong connection to the picture with a feeling of familiarity. Some people have reported healing energy being felt from the picture. By meditating with the drawing a stronger bond may be formed with your guide and further inspirations may be received through inner thoughts, feelings, words or pictures, trust your intuition and be open minded to what it is telling you. Sometimes it may take a while to connect with your guide portrait and at other times it may be immediate. Guides are always only a thought away, as soon as you hold the thought that you wish to communicate they will be there. But you have to be still and patient not agitated and full of disharmony. Be still for one second and they will always inspire a quiet mind. Enjoy!

More About Spirit Guides

Guides can be pathfinders helping us to discover our own inner worth and strengths. Contact with those of true higher soul energies is a blessing which you will feel. Your own spiritual teacher or guide knows every aspiration and every difficulty that you endure and that guide loves you more than you can love yourself. In times of need you are never alone, which is a comforting thought. Guides love it when we overcome something within ourselves which has blocked our spiritual progression.

A guide may be a soul you have known in a previous incarnation who has agreed to inspire you in this lifetime. They may be more clairvoyant and have a generally clearer picture because they are less bogged down in material matters and can see the whole picture as it were, from the other side.

There are guides for all, astronauts, politicians, shopkeepers, not just for those on the spiritual path. A family ancestor or close family member who is in the world of spirit can act as a spirit guide for us. There is a vast network in the spiritual realms who are assisting us here on Earth on our evolutionary path.

When you do walk the spiritual path you will invariably work with different guides for different spiritual attributes, they can work independently as well as being part of a team with your other guides. Guides can be with you for a lifetime, for just a short period of time or even at various points in your life. You will find guides from any walk of life and from any nationality for example warriors, mystics, doctors, nurses, monks and nuns and of course Native American Indians. Many guides are drawn from races that, when on earth, had much spiritual wisdom and a natural aptitude for communication with the spirit world. There are also angelic energies that may link with us or nature spirits. Spirit guides from other planets can also link with us. Ultimately the individual personality is not important, it is the power and the power that has shown to be divine in origin that matters. All guidance streams from the Great Spirit.

The more you develop yourself spiritually the more you can link into higher vibrational frequencies, thus allowing your consciousness access to higher beings of a higher evolution - this takes a lot of work!

The dress that we see the guides in is for our benefit rather than theirs. They come from a dimension where they might exist as light and vibration and like an actor wears a costume, they come in a form for recognition, usually taken from an enjoyable incarnation on earth if they have previously incarnated here. Some people though do see a light being as their guide.

There are guides to help with seeing, hearing, and sensing spirit, aura viewing, healing, trance work, spiritual philosophy, whatever gifts we are given to work with, we are assisted in our progression. Guides are attracted by the thoughts we send out to the universe and through our interactions with others, it is about service to mankind and to Creator, we are all of us on our pathway back home to The Source.

Although we have a number of guides assisting us, they are not watching and observing us 24 hours a day - they are not voyeurs - they have other tasks also.
Ultimately the individual personality is not important, it is the power and the power that has shown to be divine in origin that matters. All guidance streams from the Great Spirit.

It is important to remember that guides are not surrogate parents and not perfect! They are conscious beings who are on their own path of evolution and have chosen to work with us. Do not become over-dependant and use them to avoid your loneliness or to parade around to others for the benefit of your ego! At all times avoid guide worship - it does and can happen.

Guides are not just there to help you out of sticky situations or to sort out all of your problems, they can and will inspire you but they cannot interfere in your life without incurring some kind of spiritual karma. You can ask for help and they will assist you but they cannot and will not run your life for you. They are subject to the great cosmic law of cause and effect. Every action through thought has an effect somewhere, so we have to lead our own lives, but with the added bonus of spiritual friends who love us, and want to help us.

The real purpose is for you alone to truly find yourself with their assistance, should you seek or ask for it. By working upon yourself you will prepare conditions for good communications to take place especially if you can meditate on a regular basis.

As you begin to grow in consciousness and spirituality, there will be changes in your guides, this process will continue all through your development, until you reach a point where guides stand aside because you will have reached what we call the 'Higher Self' - that Divine counterpart of us all that we are all aspiring to be at one with. Remember the phrase 'Know Thyself', in order to reach this point we have to be dedicated to working on ourselves on all levels, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. By sorting out all of our issues, we can progress, not easy but it can be done and our guides will help and assist us all the way. The more you grow the higher you can go.
